At the tender age of eleven, these words reverberated; something said “go for it”; the journey began and is incessant. NS Prasad, popularly known as Mandolin Prasad is quite possibly the most celebrated mandolin player in India. As a performer, a great scholar and a creative composer, he is known for his distinct style away from what we know of mandolin in the bygone days. Mandolin Prasad’s incredible proficiency has been rewarded with multiple awards (Best String player by Bangalore Music Academy, Swara Samrat by Gayana Ganga, Kalashree by Sangeetha Nritya Academy, to name a few). He has revolutionized creative music and paved the way for many musicians to follow not just in mandolin but in all forms of music
Vision : “Providing the right education, learning atmosphere and comprehensive exposure to aspiring students which can take them and the institute to greater heights” Ragashree Music Academy (previously Aasakthi Vidyalaya), was founded by Mandolin Prasad and inaugurated by Dr. RK Srikantan in August 2006 to impart the knowledge of Music to many budding talents in an innovative manner. Ragashree Music Academy stands out among the masses through its unique teaching methodology which elicits creativity, gives the best of both ancient and contemporary music from all parts of the world along with a deep understanding of human values and humility. The footstep of the guru is followed by the pupils in many noble projects.
A differentiated methodology - Students of this institute imbibe the skill through a unique 360 degree approach – one to one interactions with the guru, knowledge sharing sessions with other students, educational tours to meet some of the accomplished musicians in the Country, musical gatherings and lectures from well-known artistes, individual research projects, etc. Many novel projects have been undertaken under the aegis of this institution to inculcate and instill the right Music sense, culture and values among the students. Also previlaged to do arrangement with Sri.Mysore Ananthswamy, Sri.Padmacharan, Sri.H.K.Narayan, Sri.Puttur Narasimha Nayak and so on…
